Universal Pictures has just released the first official trailer for the new action thriller “Monkey Man.” This will be the directorial debut of lead actor Dev Patel (“The Green Knight”), who also wrote the script.
Partially inspired by the strong-willed Hindu deity Hanuman, “Monkey Man,” tells the story of Kid (Patel). Kid is just a regular guy until his mother is murdered at the hands of the country’s corrupt and ultra-wealthy leaders. To cope he joins an underground fight club where he wears a gorilla mask and gets regularly beaten by more experienced fighters.
Eventually all his suppressed rage about his mother and the woefully broken system bubbles over. Leading him to infiltrate the ranks of the city’s sinister elite. After that, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
“Monkey Man,” is produced by Jordan Peele (“Nope”) and will hit theaters on April 5th nationwide. You can check out the first action pack trailer below:
