STARZ Reverses “Minx” Save; No Season 3 Happening

I’m upset. I’m really, really pissed off.

“Minx,” one of the best completely out of left-field series in the last several years, has again been cancelled. Maybe you’ll recall, but the well received and reviewed series- created and written by Ellen Rapoport – had originally been developed and released by HBO. It premiered on MAX, and had been greenlit for a second season. Halfway through production on season 2, the series was cancelled, only to be picked up/saved by STARZ.

Season 2 released in July of 2023, and once again received strong critical reception, garnering a season 3 order.

But as of today, that isn’t the case, as STARZ has reversed their decision much to the dismay of fans.

“I think the move to STARZ, I think HBO kind of doing their HBO thing, or HBO MAX, whatever it’s called now, I think that was brutal for [the show],” star Jake Johnson said when speaking to Deadline in December of 2023. “Then, I think the strike coming out right as we were trying to promote it…My guess is you can’t beat something up that many times and keep going.”

I’m so so heartbroken. “Minx” partially filled the hole left by Netflix’s COMPLETELY STUPID cancellation of “GLOW.”

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
