Florida Dunkin’ Exploding Toilet Injuries Customer

Florida resident Paul Kerouac has filed a suit against the coffee chain Dunkin’ after a toilet exploded and injured him. The negligence lawsuit was filed on January 3rd with the state court in Orlando. Kerouac is seeking more than $100,000 in damages.

In January 2022, Kerouac visited the chain’s Winter Park, Florida location when a toilet in the men’s room exploded. This left the customer covered in feces, urine, and debris causing “severe and long term injuries.” Not to mention being horribly grossed out by the fact a toilet literally blew up on him!

After the incident, Kerouac walked out seeking help from the staff. According to the lawsuit, an employee informed him that they knew there was a “problem with the toilet” since there had been previous incidents. The fact that staff and management apparently knew about the toilet seems to be why this is being considered negligence and not just a freak accident.

Currently, Dunkin’ has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. Kerouac’s attorney Scott Spradley, has also not commented on the nature of the explosion or his client’s injuries. However, the filing says that he suffered “bodily injury,” and he has required mental health care and counseling since the incident.

While that doesn’t give us much to go on in terms of how a toilet may have exploded. We feel pretty confident in saying it probably wasn’t someone reenacting “Lethal Weapon 2.”
