Original “Percy Jackson” Star Gives Full Support to New Cast

It can’t be easy to see a property you were involved in get a reboot. Especially one with a fan following like the “Percy Jackson” novels (and films, now tv series) by Rick Riordion. Original “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” star Logan Lerman had some very nice words for the cast of Disney+’s new series, and in particular, new Percy actor Walker Scobell.

Scobell was joined by fellow castmates Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, and Riordion during a visit to Josh Horowitz‘s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. While discussing the series, which hit the House of Mouse’s streaming service early, they were treated to a note from Lerman.

“The show looks amazing,” Lerman’s note said. “I can’t wait to see you all crush it in your roles. You’re making a lot of people happy bringing these characters to life. I can’t imagine a better fit for Percy Jackson than Walker. You were so brilliant in ‘The Adam Project.’ I hope you like eating blue food the next few years. I think you have a hit show on your hands.”

Horowitz asked Scobell if it felt good, hearing that support. “It definitely does. A little bit,” Scobell answered with that blazing bright smile. “I have DM’d him before,” Scobell said. “I watched one of his movies, ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower.’ I really liked it. I thought it was so good I DM’d him.”

How great would it be to see Lerman as Tyson in season 2?!

    How is the Show?

Having watched the first two episodes of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” with my family last night, I have to say, I think we’re in for a very heartfelt ride. The casting, the music (from our friend Bear McCreary and the team at Sparks & Shadows)- all evoke true adventure, excitement, and a heroic beginning of something special.

We’ll have a more in-depth review soon. Catch the first two episodes of “Percy Jackson” on Disney+ now.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
