We’re…really not sure how to feel about this. Chris Carter‘s “The X-Files” series remains one of our absolute favorites, as long as we pretend that last ‘season’ never happened. Turns out, “Black Panther” writer/director Ryan Coogler is also a fan, and is interested in making his own version.

This isn’t the first time such a thing has been discussed, but, this IS the most direct confirmation of the project still in some sort of production.
In a piece from Bloomberg this morning, the lede is buried: “Disney, which birthed the idea of ‘cinematic universes,’ is developing a new version of ‘X-Files‘ that would be produced by Ryan Coogler, the director of ‘Black Panther‘ and ‘Creed.'” Thats…that’s it. Nothing more about it.
So, is this…a good idea? A bad idea? Something you’ll wait and see before making judgements on?
You can catch the classic FOX series, starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, on Amazon’s Freevee.
