Peacock has released the official trailer for its upcoming R-rated prequel series to the “Ted” films. The Seth MacFarlane-created show will take place in 1993 and has Ted (MacFarlane) trying to survive high school with his human best friend John Bennett (Max Burkholder).

This new series will take place right after the foul-mouthed bear’s moment of fame has passed. His fall from the limelight has him living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his bestie. The trailer shows all the classic high school awkwardness you’d expect from a raunchy comedy. We see the duo try pot for the first time and try to maintain their composure during a family dinner. Along with Ted trying, and failing, to help John lose his virginity.
The trailer hits all the fashion highlights of the early 1993s including big hair and a piano key necktie. It is scored by The Proclaimers classic “500 Miles,” and we even see a peek of a Volkswagen Golf convertible. The level of 90s nostalgia here is bordering on aggressive.

The cast for “Ted” also includes Alanna Ubach (“Euphoria”), Scott Grimes (“The Orville”), and Giorgia Whigham (“13 Reasons Why”). MacFarlane will act as writer, executive producer, co-showrunner, and director, on top of voice acting. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh are working as executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners. The show is produced by Fuzzy Door, MRC, and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
The 7-episode limited “Ted” series will hit Peacock on January 11th, 2024. You can check out the full trailer below:
