Director Edward Berger may be in negotiations with Universal Pictures for a new “Jason Bourne” movie. Berger took home several Oscars, including Best International Feature Film for 2022’s WWI epic “All Quiet on the Western Front.”
Entering into the “Bourne” franchise would certainly be one heck of a follow-up.

Sources say the project is in the very early stages of development at the studio. Berger is in negotiations to oversee development and direct a possible upcoming feature. While Universal is currently not commenting on these reports, insiders close to the project say there is no script at this time.

The project is so early into development that Berger is currently the only name with any kind of serious attachment. However, some sources have said that actor Matt Damon, who starred as Bourne in four of the five films, would be approached first to return to the role. Damon’s potential involvement does seem to be contingent on the right script. Meaning it is still far too early to tell if he will return as the former CIA operative.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about a new “Jason Bourne” film if/when they become available.
