The former Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland has gotten a makeover. The Pixar Place Hotel will officially open January 30th, 2024. This will be the “first fully Pixar-themed hotel in the United States,” according to Disney. The artists concepts for the hotel, which were released with the announcement, look amazing.

The hotel renovation is adjacent to the section of property Disneyland is currently seeking to expand. The 30 year expansion plan, known as DisneylandForward, promises “diverse, integrated experiences them park visitors now seek. Pixar Place Hotel will evoke the inspiration and humor that foes into every Pixar film, while celebrating the artistic process,” says Disney. “Showcasing early sketches to finished design, the art and decor will highlight vibrant Pixar stories, revealing some never-before-seen artwork.”
The concept art for the lobby will center around the iconic Pixar Lamp atop its ball. There appears to be a mobile of iconic and beloved floating Pixar characters from over the years. The mobile will “depict the beginning stages of Pixar filmmaking, when animators create the characters’ designs with their most basic shapes and colors.” Some of the Pixar-themed elements for the hotel are already in place, like outdoor fire pits modeled after “hotheaded Pixar characters.” There is also a Stor-E retail shop.

Rooms in the hotel will have their own versions of the iconic lamp. Headboards will be lined with concept art from various Pixar films, arranged in order from warm to cool colors. Honestly looking at the room concept art, we can’t help but feel excited. Who wouldn’t want to sleep with artwork from films like “Toy Story,” or “The Incredibles” over them?
The rooftop will feature a “Finding Nemo” themed splash pad and pool area. The Pixel Pool will be lined with lounge chairs on deck. There will also be the Nemo’s Cave pop-jet splash pad. The main attraction for kids will be Crush’s Surffin’ Slide, a 186-foot long water slide. Currently there is still being work done on an adjacent play court and pool bar, expected to open later this fall.
The Great Maple restaurant, located inside the hotel, is set to open on the ground floor this November. A few weeks later the Sketch Pad Café coffee shop will also open. The coffee shop will be opening in conjuncture with the Small Bytes pool bar on the rooftop.
It’s worth noting Disneyland raised prices again just recently.
