Striking while the iron is still hot a sequel to “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” is already underway. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield recently gave an interview talking about the film’s increase in budget. And as we all know in horror, more money means more carnage.

“In comparison to the first film everything’s stepped up massively. It’s a horror film. A lot of the times people are going there for the death scenes and for those elements and we’ve really upped the ante,” Frake-Waterfield told Variety. “I think the last time I did a count there was over 30 deaths in the movie, which is quite substantial compared to most movies. I think that’s at least over three times what the first film had and there’s various massacres and stuff. So there’s a lot of blood and a lot of gore.”
The creator notes that this time the budget is “over 10 times” what “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” cost. “It was actually a bit easier this time because the budget is higher so it expands out your options,” he explains. “And I want them to be really, really crazy. I’ve given Winnie a signature weapon this time. In the other film it was just anything he could pick up really, so it was like a sledge hammer or a bat. But one of his key weapons in this is a bear trap, which is very fitting to his to his character.”
Much like Jason Voorhees in the “Friday the 13th” franchise. Once a killer goes from a weapon of opportunity to a signature instrument of death, all bets are off. Yes, Winnie the Pooh may be hurdling towards horror icon status.
“So we got a really gruesome, scary one made,” Frake-Waterfield said about the weapon. “It looks awesome and he kills people in a variety of ways with it. And there’s some very, very cool set pieces. They were challenging to shoot but they’ll make for some crazy kills. There’s one sequence in the movie which is absolutely wild and I’m really excited for people to see it.”
The first film features Winnie and Piglet going on a killing spree after being abandoned by Christopher Robin leaving for college. “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” will expand on this cast of characters and the setting.

“Bigger and Badder. The sequel will feature new creature designs, a new cast, and a high death count,” Rhys Frake-Waterfield promises. “However, this time Pooh and friends will be leaving the 100 Acre Wood to take their fight to the quiet community of Ashdown!”
The cast for “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” also includes Tallulah Evans, Scott Chambers as Christopher Robin, Ryan Oliva as Winnie the Pooh, and Peter DeSouza-Feighoney as Young Pooh. The upcoming sequel is written by Matt Leslie (“Summer of 84”).
There is no set release date for “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2,” yet. But we’ll keep you posted on updates s they become available.
