We are very sorry to report the passing of Irish actor Michael Gambon. While his career spanned numerous decades, he became most well-known across the world for his portrayal of Albus Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter“ film franchise. Gambon took over the role starting with “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” after the passing of original actor Richard Harris.
Gambon saw the role through to the end of the mainline franchise in 2011 but continued to act in film, on television and the stage until 2019. Sir Michael Gambon leaves behind a legacy of performances that have left a lasting impact on the world, including that of Dumbledore. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones at this time, as well as to all of those who were touched by his work.
Gambon was 82.
