For the first time in 40 years, Curtis Richards‘ official novelization of John Carpenter‘s “Halloween” is returning to print. The fine folks at Printed in Blood are responsible for this reprint, which will feature almost 100 brand new illustrations. The illustrations are the work of Orlando “Mexifunk” Arocena, who also re-created the original cover art for the book.

“This 224-page volume is bursting with both classic and new artistic visions of John Carpenter’s horror classic. This Limited Edition cover features the classic paperback cover art re-created by Orlando. Produced under license with Compass International Pictures and with full cooperation of the original author, Richard Curtis (who penned the original novel under Curtis Richards),” reads Printed in Blood’s listing.

In the time before video on demand (VOD), streaming, and easily accessible physical media, novelizations were the way to re-visit movies. For horror fans, novelizations have remained an essential part of lore and world building. The “Halloween” novelization explores the ancient origins of the curse that targeted Michael Meyers. Readers get a look at Michael’s life before he murdered his sister and was sentenced to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium.

“Halloween: Illustrated” will feature something new for even the most die-hard Michael Meyers fans. It is currently available for pre-order, for $50, through Printed in Blood’s official website. The Limited Edition with original cover art only has 250 copies and comes signed with other goodies. That kind of makes the $300 price tag worth it. Printed in Blood also has just the artwork available for $45.
