A H-E-B supermarket in Hutto, Texas is capitalizing on the current heat wave in a hilarious way. TikToker Emily Cormier Hinds recently went viral after posting a video of a heat induced apology cake that she found in the store. Proving once and for all, that H-E-B’s has everything.
The video shows a cake for $29.98, covered in white icing, with the words “I’m sorry for what I said when it was 109° outside.” This text is, fittingly, surrounded but little yellow suns. Or as Jerry Lee Lewis would probably call them, “Great Balls of Fire.”
Hinds says she was checking out the bakery section for her kid’s upcoming birthday when she spotted the apology cake. “They have the most adorable little ‘Decorator’s Showcase’ and this little gem was on display,” she told KSAT. “I thought it was hysterical! Definitely how we all feel lately.”
But now the savvy shopper has the reverse of buyer’s remorse for not picking up the hilariously honest cake. “Maybe I’ll have to have them make a special one for me,” she said.
As of this writing, the TikTok of the apology cake has more than 433,800 reactions and 3.2 million views. You can check out the video for yourself below:
