20th Century Studios has released a new trailer for its upcoming crime drama “A Haunting in Venice.” This will be the first feature film adaptation of the 1969 novel “Hallowe’en Party.” It is the third film in Sir Kenneth Branagh‘s Agatha Christie series.

“A Haunting in Venice” is written by Michael Green, with Branagh directing as well as starring. The duo has previously teamed up on 2017’s “A Murder on the Orient Express” and 2022’s “Death on the Nile.” Both of these films are also based on Christie’s work and star Branagh as detective Hercule Poirot. Given the newest trailer, it looks like this entry will push way more to the horror side of a murder mystery than the previous films in the series.

Set in post-World War II,  “A Haunting in Venice” finds Poirot retired and living in his own exile. He reluctantly attends a séance at the request of Ariadne Olive (Tina Fey), seeking to debunk a psychic (Michelle Yeoh). But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to uncover the killer.

Poirot initially refuses to believe that anything supernatural is taking place and that the séance/psychic are just a ruse. That is until weird things start to happen, accompanied by creepy kids that aren’t really there. Will he be able to hold on to his skepticism?

“A Haunting in Venice,” also stars Kelly Reilly, Jamie Dornan, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, and Riccardo Scamarcio.

Producers include Branagh, Judy Hofflund, Ridley Scott, and Simon Kinberg. With James Prichard, Mark Gordon, and Louise Killin serving as executive producers.

The new film will exclusively hit theaters on September 15th. We’ll keep you posted on any updates as they develop. You can check out the creepy new trailer for  “A Haunting in Venice” below:
