“American Horror Story” Season 12 is upon us. Subtitled “Delicate,” the series seems to be sliding into an era of creepy beauty. With “AHS: NYC” last season, the 80s nightclub aesthetic was a feast for the eyes, even for those that might consider the series rote at this juncture. This season dropped a trailer with a cold, cool, latex aesthetic. There’s almost an anime quality to the teaser. What with the white hair, rounded sunglasses, and stark shapes. Some speculate this is the start of the new direction for the series.

There might be something to that, as this season will not be in the hands of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. In a series first, there’s only one writer-director for the season. Halley Feiffer will helm this season, adapting the season from Danielle Valentine‘s upcoming novel “Delicate Condition.”
A somewhat modern telling of “Rosemary’s Baby,” a woman is convinced that people around her are trying to stop her pregnancy, while the men in her life believe she’s losing her mind. Though, this is AHS we’re talking about. Chances are there are people trying to murder her unborn child. Or need it for some nefarious purpose.

New Cast, New Directions
Along the string of series firsts are the cast. AHS veteran Emma Roberts is returning, along with other series regulars. But some new members are coming to the cast, including Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne of “Pose” fame, Annabelle Dexter-Jones (“Succession“), and several others. “Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” Murphy said when she was first announced. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. [Showrunner] Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

Generally, “AHS” tends to add some manner of supernatural bent to their stories. Aside from perhaps “AHS: Cult“, which was one of the more uninteresting seasons. Possibly due to it being so closely based on upsetting current events that it was hard to watch.
There’s no release date yet on the series, but we’ll be sure to give it a good review when it drops.
