Live-Action “One Piece” Gets New Teaser, Release Date!

Despite the…mixed…reviews for Netflix’s live-action “Cowboy Bebop” (which is actually GREAT), the streaming giant has been going full sail ahead on several other takes on beloved anime. We just got a first look at the upcoming “Avatar The Last Airbender” series, as well as an official teaser and release date for “One Piece!.”

Steve Maeda and Matt Owens developed the series. Eiichiro Oda, who wrote and drew the original manga and long-running anime series, has been very involved as well. Oda has kinda been our best source of updates and information.

Iñaki Godoy will play Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu (Netflix’s live-action “Ruroni Kenshin”) will play Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd will play navigator Nami, Taz Skylar will play womanizing chef Sanji, and Jacob Romero Gibson plays slingshot wielder Usopp.

The Going Merry- iconic ship from the series- actually made the trip all the way to Brazil for Netflix’s recent festival.
