Zazie Beetz NOT Returning as Domino for “Deadpool 3”

Actress Zazie Beetz has confirmed she will not be returning as Domino in “Deadpool 3.” Which is a bit surprising since she was was a central character in the 2nd installment of the franchise. She explained during a recent interview that while she is excited for the new movie, she won’t be a part of the cast.

Even though the plot for “Deadpool 3” is still being kept under wraps, we know Ryan Reynolds will be returning as the title character. More excitingly, Hugh Jackman will be back to play Wolverine for the first time in five years! Plus, Jackman has already insinuated Wolverine will punch Deadpool in the head. This will also be the first time Deadpool appears in the Disney-owned-Marvel Cinematic Universe, not Fox’s, like the previous installments.

“Well I’m actually not in Deadpool 3, so I don’t know what they’re doing [about improvisation],” Beetz said. “I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause. […] I’m excited to watch it.”

The implied mention of improvisation refers to the production of “Deadpool 3” continuing during the current Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) strike. Because of strike rules, there is currently no screenwriter involved with the production. So, maybe the cast can improvise lines or scenes. Which may produce some interesting results because Deadpool is known for his spontaneous and outlandish jokes. They don’t call him the “Merc with a Mouth” for nothing.

Even though Beetz won’t be apart of “Deadpool 3,” she is still staying busy. She will be in the much anticipated “Joker: Folie à Deux,” where she is reprising her role as Sophie Dumond. Dumond being a fixation of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), even though they only interacted once. “Joker: Folie à Deux” will hit theaters on October 4, 2024.

“Deadpool 3” is currently scheduled to hit theaters May 3rd, 2024.
