It wouldn’t be almost (officially) summer without some release date changes. Earlier this morning, Walt Disney Studios announced some pretty big shifts in their upcoming lineup. Titles like “Avatar 3,” multiple Marvel Studios projects, and even “Star Wars” have all been moved.

“Avatar 3″ moves from December 2024 to December 2025, “Avatar 4” moves all the way to December 2029, with “Avatar 5” slated for December 2031. Thats….thats a long time.
On the Marvel Studios front, “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” has been delayed from it’s original May 2025 release to May 1st, 2026. “Avengers: Secret Wars” was originally slated for May of 2026, but will now also push a year out to May 7th, 2027. “Captain America: Brave New World” was gonna hit May 3rd, 2024, but has been pushed back 3 months to July 26th, 2024. “Thunderbolts” will now open December 20th, 2024. “Blade,” which recently shut down production in Georgia due to the writer’s strike, was originally hitting September 6th 2024, is now pushed to February 14th, 2025. “Fantastic Four,” which originally had that Feb 14th release date has been pushed to May 2nd, 2025.
From the “Star Wars” universe, a dated-yet-untitled film has been moved from a December 2025 date to May 22, 2026. The belief if this one is the Daisy Ridley returning film, as it’s the farthest along in pre-production. ANOTHER new “Star Wars” film was surprisingly confirmed as well, with a December 18th, 2026 release date. A third title which was already set for December 17th, 2027 hasn’t moved, and will stay on it’s existing date.
The live-action adaptation of “Moana” is expected to hit theaters June 27th, 2025.
It’s not all pushBACKS, as the upcoming “Deadpool 3,” Disney’s first stab at the R-rated hero franchise, moves from November 8th of 2024 to May 3rd, 2024.
So, there you have it. Several changes from the big studio.
