English actor/comedian/musician Matt Berry (“What We Do in the Shadows”) may be joining Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”) in the upcoming “Minecraft” movie. The film be directed by Jared Hess (“Napoleon Dynamite”) for Warner Bros. Pictures.

While the project is in development, details about the “Minecraft” movie are few and far between. We aren’t sure what Berry’s potential role might be, let alone a plotline. But we do know it will be based on the wildly popular Mojang sandbox video game of the same name. And trying to do a live-action adaptation of one of the highest-selling video games of all time is quite the undertaking.

The “Minecraft” film is a collaborative effort between Vertigo, co-financier Legendary, Mojang/Microsoft, and Momoa’s own On the Roam. Momoa, Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick are acting as producers. Executive producers include Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts.

You can catch Momoa in “Fast X” currently in theaters. You can get more of Berry in “What We Do in the Shadows” which is set to come back July 13th on FX. The “Minecraft” movie is scheduled to hit theaters April 4th, 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they become available.
