The 3rd annual World Drive-In Movie Festival and Jamboree will be hitting Las Vegas! The three-day event will be hosted by founder Joe Bob Briggs and Diana Prince, better known as Darcey The Mail Girl. Founded in 2021, the Jamboree has been previously hosted at the Mahoning Drive-In in Pennsylvania, and the Malco Summer Drive-In in Tennessee. But this year, Brigg’s mutant family will be taking over the West Wind Las Vegas Drive-In. A venue that is known for its neon archway entrance on Carey Avenue. The drive-in opened in 1966 and eventually expanded to six screens so it could accommodate almost a thousand cars.

“It was time to bring the celebration out west and kick things up a notch,” Diana Prince, Executive Director and star of Shudder’s “The Last Drive-In,” said. “This is a huge drive-in, and that’s enabled us to slash admission prices for fans and have a much bigger party in the city known for its parties.” Fitting since the Jamboree is a three-day party. Offering outdoor movies, music, live on-stage programming, vendors, dusk-to-dawn sleepovers, camping, barbecues (possibly some vegan), celebrity guests, cast reunions, and group walking tours led by movie critic, Briggs.
“We’ll be announcing guests and programming throughout the summer, but anyone purchasing tickets prior to June 22 will get an early-bird discount rate,” Prince said. “We want to fill up the West Wind with the most fanatic drive-in lovers in America.”

Saturday will be a traditional live drive-in double feature. Like “The Last Drive-In,” it will have celebrity guests and commentary by Briggs and Prince. And in the spirit of tradition, the movie titles will not be announced in advance.
Winners in the World Drive-In Movie Festival will be screened on opening night, Friday, October 6. They will be presented with Brigg’s coveted “Hubbie,” an award inscribed on a vintage Chevy hubcap. Just in case you forgot this was a drive-in. Filmmakers can submit their work to the festival for free through July 14. You can find the rules and instructions for online submission here.
Sunday will be a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first “Sleepaway Camp” film. There will be a cast and crew reunion for the cult classic slasher. Followed up by a dusk-to-dawn marathon of four of the “Sleepaway Camp” films.
