Season 2 of the thriller series “Cruel Summer” just got a new trailer and a release date.

The first season of “Cruel Summer” takes place over three summers in the 1990s. It tells the story of a beautiful and popular teen girl, who goes missing in a small town. While another seemingly sweet and awkward teen takes her place as the most popular girl in school. That is before she spirals into being the most despised person in America.

Season 2 will be set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest. It will follow the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship, told from three different timelines all surrounding Y2K. So like in season one it seems like we’ll be getting multiple perspectives on the same story that takes place in the 1990s.

Like the first season, we’ll be getting plenty of twists and turns as we follow an early friendship between Megan, Isabella, and Megan’s best friend Luke. A friendship that morphs into a love triangle, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.

“Cruel Summer”’s new cast includes Sadie Stanley, Lexi Underwood, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada, Sean Blakemore, and Paul Adelstein. With Elle Triedman acting as the showrunner.

The second season will hit Freeform starting on June 5, 2023. But you can also stream it via Hulu starting on June 6th. We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Cruel Summer” as they become available. You can check out the trailer for season two below:
