Actor Scoot McNairy (“Halt and Catch Fire”) has officially joined the cast for the new horror thriller “Speak No Evil.” The upcoming film is a collaboration between Blumhouse and Universal Pictures, directed and written by James Watkins (“The Woman in Black,” “Eden Lake”).

“Speak No Evil” is based on the screenplay for the 2022 Danish psychological horror thriller “Gæsterne,” co-written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. With Christian Tafdrup also directing the Shudder original. The film centers around a family that is invited for a weekend away at an idyllic country house. But their dream holiday soon warps into a snarled and twisted psychological nightmare.
The cast so far includes McNairy, Mackenzie Davis, and James McAvoy (“His Dark Materials”). McNairy and Davis previously worked together on 4 seasons of AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire.” That series revolved around the technological revolution of the 1980s.
The new film is currently shooting in Europe. “Speak No Evil” is expected to hit theaters on August 9, 2024. But we’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they develop.
