Unfortunate news for those who fell in love with American McGee‘s gothic Alice in Wonderland gamesa. We will not be seeing a third game in the “Alice: Asylum” series. And, more heartbreakingly, the end of his involvement with the franchise.
McGee himself shared the news.

“After several weeks of review, EA has come back with a response regarding funding and/or licensing for ‘Alice: Asylum,'” McGee said in a Paetron post. “On the question of funding, they have ultimately decided to pass on the project based on an internal analysis of the IP, market conditions, and details of the production proposal.”
He continued, possibly trying to save face by saying he has “no other ideas or energy left to apply toward getting a new Alice game made.” He also admitted he has “no control over the Alice IP and no ability to make a new game happen. That control and ability rest entirely with EA.”
Recently, McGee’s work has been dedicated to creating a design bible for fans, which you can check here. Last we heard about the “Alice” franchise, it was being developed into a television series by David Hayter.
“If someone does manage to convince EA to make ‘Asylum,’ I would like to make clear from this point forward, I have no desire to be involved with that or any other Alice-related development,” McGee said. “My involvement with ‘Alice’ is also at an end.”
