HBO Max’s “It” prequel series “Welcome To Derry” has apparently found its main cast. The series is led by filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti, who created the most recent addition to the “It” franchise, along with Jason Fuchs, who worked with them previously as a co-producer on “It Chapter Two.”

Taylour Paige (“Zola”), Jovan Adepo (“Babylon”), Chris Chalk (“Perry Mason”), and James Remar (“Oppenheimer”) have reportedly been cast.

While the new cast’s character details have yet to be revealed. We do know that the series will build upon the Muschiettis’ additions to Stephen King’s “It” universe. King’s novel, which the films are based on, tells the story of a group of friends battling a shape-shifting monster. Who often takes the form of an evil dancing clown names Pennywise. The novel’s timeline is split between the protagonists as kids when they first face the monster. Then later as middle-aged adults who have to return to the town of Derry to face their fears and try to kill him once and for all.

Plot details for the series are still murky. But we do know Pennywise’s reign of terror works in 27-year cycles. This means it’s possible that “Welcome To Derry” will follow the group Pennywise terrorized before the 1989 Losers Club from the recent films. According to “It” lore, this would be the group Pennywise won against.

“Welcome to Derry” is produced by HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television. Fuchs will write the teleplay for the first episode, based on a story by himself and the Muschiettis. Andy Muschietti (“The Flash“) will also direct multiple episodes of the new series, including the pilot.

Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane will serve as co-showrunners on “Welcome to Derry.”  The Muschiettis’ Double Dream production company, Fuchs, and Kane will also be working as executive producers. Alongside Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Welcome to Derry” as they become available.
