It would appear Marvel Studios was not happy with the last draft of their upcoming “Fantastic Four” film. The introduction of the First Family of Comics to the MCU is an important one, and obviously something the company wants to get right. After two franchises of semi successful films and one outright embarrassment (*cough* “Fant4stic” *cough*), there’s something to be said for third times’ the charm.
According to numerous sources, Josh Friedman (“Avatar: The Way of Water,” “Foundation“) will be penning a new script for the upcoming film. After leaving Paramount Pictures’ “Star Trek 4” for this, Matt Shankman (“WandaVision“) is still slated to direct.
Friedman replaces writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, who had already turned in at least one draft.
This could mean any previously rumored casting may change. Cameras are supposedly supposed to start rolling in early 2024, with a possible February 14th, 2025 release date already on the docket. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
Mary Anne Butler
Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
