Sword video games have been popular for decades, with players eager to wield virtual blades and experience epic battles in imaginary worlds.

These games often feature characters who are skilled swordsmen or swordswomen, engaging in fast-paced combat against monsters, villains, or other players. In some instances, the weapons and swords become almost as iconic as the games themselves and although there are plenty more awesome swords not on the list we put together these top 8.

Top 8 Swords from Popular Games

There are many popular swords from video games, but here are some of the most iconic ones:

    1. Frostmourne – World of Warcraft

    Blizzard/Activision

This sword is wielded by Arthas Menethil, the primary antagonist of the Warcraft III expansion, and later by the Lich King in World of Warcraft. It’s one of the most recognizable swords in the Warcraft universe.

    2. The Master Sword – The Legend of Zelda

    Nintendo

This sword is the primary weapon of Link, the protagonist of the Legend of Zelda series. It’s a magical sword that is said to be the only weapon capable of defeating the evil Ganon.

    3. The Ebony Blade – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

    Bethesda

This sword is a two-handed weapon that can be obtained by completing a quest in the game. It’s known for its high damage output and its ability to absorb health from enemies.

    4. The Buster Sword – Final Fantasy VII

    Square Enix

This sword is wielded by Cloud Strife, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII. It’s an enormous sword that has become an iconic symbol of the game.

    5. The Energy Sword – Halo

    Bungee/343

This sword is wielded by the alien species known as the Elites in the Halo series. It’s a plasma sword that can cut through armor and shields with ease.

    6. The Silver Sword – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

    CD Projekt Red

This sword is one of the most important weapons in The Witcher series. It’s a silver sword that is specifically designed to kill monsters, and it’s an essential tool for Geralt of Rivia, the game’s protagonist.

    7. The Soul Edge – Soulcalibur

    Namco

    8. The Sakabatou – Rurouni Kenshin

    Toei

One of the most iconic swords from a game about samurai is the Sakabatou (reverse-blade sword) from the anime and manga series Rurouni Kenshin. In the game Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story, the player controls the protagonist Kenshin Himura, who wields the Sakabatou.

The sword looks similar to the classic Katana but has a reversed blade, meaning that the sharp edge faces inward instead of outward, and is designed to allow Kenshin to fight without killing his opponents. The Sakabatou has become a symbol of Kenshin’s commitment to atone for his past as a deadly assassin and protect the innocent.

Will We Ever See Anything Like These in Real Life?

Yes, replicas of most of these swords are available for purchase. However, it’s important to note that some of these swords are trademarked and their replicas may be licensed or unauthorized.

It’s important to check the legality of purchasing and owning replicas of trademarked swords before making a purchase. Additionally, some replicas may be for decorative purposes only and may not be suitable for actual use. It’s important to research the quality and materials of a replica before making a purchase to ensure that it meets your needs and expectations.

    Conclusion

From fantasy realms to historical settings, sword video games allow players to experience the thrill of sword fighting and the satisfaction of mastering complex fighting techniques. With a wide range of games available on various platforms, swords will continue to captivate players and offer exciting gameplay experiences.
