Ozzy Osbourne Plays VR2 Game “Horizon Call of the Mountain”

Rock icon Ozzy Osbourne has decided to ditch being the Prince of Darkness to become the Prince of Gaming. The singer and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, both appear in a new ad for the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality game “Horizon Call of the Mountain.”

The ad pokes fun at the family’s PG-13 persona from their reality show “The Osbournes.” The spot is even littered with the show’s hallmark bleeped-out profanity. In the commercial Ozzy and Sharon are supposed to be getting ready for a flight to England. But instead, Ozzy decides to play with his new PlayStation VR2 headset, proclaiming  “I’m very technical these days.” The Black Sabbath frontman then proceeds to yell at the game while footage from it flashes on the screen.

“Horizon Call of the Mountain” is an offshoot of the game “Horizon.” In this new adventure, players can ascend the towering peaks of the Carja Sundom as Ryas, a disgraced former soldier. While they unravel a new mystery surrounding the machines to redeem themselves and save their people.

We see Ozzy do battle with massive mecha-creature battles while yelling “What the f*** was that?!”

As well as combat machines with an exacerbated “Just let me kill these f****** dino machines!”

Eventually, his gaming gets so animated he lets out a cry of pain. This causes Sharon to come in to check on him. “A stormbird tried to bite my head off,” he says. Making reference to him biting the head off of a dove in 1981, then a bat in 1982.

Earlier this year, the metal pioneer had to cancel the rest of his shows and effectively retire from touring. Ozzy has openly faced a slew of medical problems that simply made traditional touring too much for him. But in the same statement, he also made it clear that he was far from done as a performer. Him and his team were trying to come up with “ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”

Considering he also did an appearance in Workday’s rockstar-studded Super Bowl ad, this may be an interesting new venture for the singer. One that is hopefully far less strenuous on his health.

“Horizon Call of the Mountain” is currently available PlayStation VR2. You can check out Ozzy playing it below:
