Killer doll series “Chucky” will return for a 3rd season! SYFY and USA Network made the announcement during the Television Critics Association’s (TCA) 2023 Winter Press Tour.
This isn’t really surprising considering the second season ranked in the top 10 for drama cable in 2022, in the 18-49 demographic. Not to mention overwhelming demand on social media. Apparently fans can’t get enough of this killer doll turned dysfunctional family man.
Created by Don Mancini, the series is based on his popular “Child’s Play” horror franchise.“The cast and crew of Chucky would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we’re delighted to announce has now spurred the official greenlight on season three,” Mancini said. “This news has made Chucky very happy. Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with. Many thanks also to our partners at SYFY, USA and UCP for helping us keep Chucky busy. See you in 2023 for what Chucky himself promises will be his scariest season ever.”
The show follows the murderous escapades of the titular villain, a sentient doll possessed by the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. The doll is voiced by Brad Dourif (“Dune,” “Deadwood“), who also portrayed him in the films.
After Chucky’s plan to invade America’s children’s hospitals was stopped in season 1, he now seeks revenge on those he holds responsible. So he stalks those meddling kids Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Björgvin Arnarson), and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), along with Chucky’s ex/sworn enemy Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Season 2 also brought back Chucky and Tiffany’s gender-fluid child Glen/Glenda, who hadn’t been seen since 2004’s “Seed of Chucky.”
As of right now, “Chucky” is set to return in the Fall of 2023. We’ll keep you up to date with more news as it develops. Check out the teaser trailer below:
