For those of us who love Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios parks, this is some amazing news. The company is creating an entirely new permanent horror themed experience in Las Vegas, NV. This will be non-seasonal, so it will be scary all year round. The themes for scares included may change throughout the year.

A library of classic horror films like “Frankenstein,” “The Mummy,” and “Dracula” will be integrated into horror-centric experiences. There will be bars, restaurants, seasonal events, and merchandise.

“Universal is known for our ability to deliver original, highly-themed and terrifying horror entertainment experiences for millions of fans every year,” President, New Ventures, Universal Parks & Resorts Page Thompson said. “We are excited to give our global fanbase yet another way to get scared and have fun with fear in the heart of Las Vegas, the perfect place for this type of unique concept.”

The more modern horror stories from high-profile filmmakers as Jason Blum, James Wan and Jordan Peele could be included, too. So we could see “The Black Phone,” “M3GAN,” “The Nun” or “Get Out” themed offerings. There are literally so many scary movies they can adapt that will scare the pants off attendees. It’s gonna be great.

The Universal Parks and Resorts spokesperson also said the primary location will be a new, 20-acre expansion of Las Vegas’ AREA15. Described by Fast Company as an “experiential next-gen mall,” AREA 15 is located only a few blocks off of the strip on Rancho Drive. The attraction will occupy a 110,000 square foot space.

This will likely not impact the annual Horror Nights offerings at Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood. We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.
