Trailer for Wesley Snipes’ Comic Series “The Exiled” Hits

Actor Wesley Snipes has a new comic on the way. “The Exiled” just received an official trailer, as well as a brand new publisher. The comic will be released by Whatnot Publishing, which is the startup publishing arm of a mobile app by the same name. The company already boasts the first creator-owned comic with “Ninja Funk.”

“The Exiled” follows Detective Niles “Roach” Washington as he hunts down a serial killer in the wake of a deadly gas attack. The murderer’s calling card is that they rip out the spines of their victims, using over 5,000 year old tools. Roach is ostracized for his theories on the killer but his instincts keep him moving forward. With everyone seemingly against him, Roach must wade into the darkness to find the killer and, with them, Earth’s darkest secret.

The series is co-created by Snipes, Keith Arem, and Adam Lawson, with Lawson being the primary writer on the series. “The Exiled” is drawn by Gabriel “Eskivo” Santos, with color by Valentina Bianconi. Arem and Snipes previously collaborated on a video game adaptation of the 1993 film “Demolition Man,” in which the actor starred opposite Sylvester Stallone, Sandra Bullock, and Nigel Hawthorne. Snipes has also worked with Lawson before on the comic “Dead Speed.”

“Comics let you explore big worlds. Since Blade, I have been attracted to origin stories and developing characters,” said Snipes. “Now, I get to build “Roach” as a character from the ground up and I dig that.” And he already seems to have a lot of faith in Roach. “He better be [a Blade killer],” he said with a chuckle. “I don’t know if he’ll take Blade completely out but at least but at least they’ll be good buddies.”

But he isn’t the only one excited about “The Exiled.” “I’m thrilled to work with Wesley again,” said Arem. “He is a fantastic creative partner, and Adam and I love collaborating with him. The Exiled is a dark reflection of what is happening in the world, and a chance for us to explore new conspiracies and stories.”

“The Exiled” is set for release on February 8, 2023. But January 9th is the cut-off for the final orders of the first issue. Check out the trailer below:
