Do you and your partner absolutely love your privacy above all else? Well look no further than the San Francisco Bay. The East Brother Lighthouse Station opens applications every two years for a couple willing to take on attendant position. The 1874 lighthouse has since been converted to a bed-and-breakfast. B&Bs are becoming all the rage lately. The list of responsibilities is lengthy, but the location makes up for that.

In order to be the perfect candidates, a lengthy questionnaire must be filled out. Questions including whether you and your partner are content and happy together. The two of you will be spending two years of quality time there, so this is important. “Couples” are given higher consideration than solo applicants. Not only to stave off maddening loneliness, but also due to the sheer amount of work required to run the teensy B and B.
Responsibilities include maintaining the lodging space, and making breakfast and dinner for guests(being a good cook is also a requirement). Of the two of you, one must have a certified U.S. Coast Guard boat operator’s license. You’ll be responsible for ferrying guests to and from the little islet. Owning pets or having children, sadly, will disqualify you from applying.

According to Richmond Mayor Tom Butt, thousands of people apply every two years. Probably due to the location and duties. And the income isn’t anything to sneeze at either. The salary is based on how well the business does under your watch. The previous attendants’ earned sum was $140,000, plus an extra $10,000 for health insurance.
