Often listed as one of the most iconic actors of his generation, Harrison Ford is embarking on a new adventure. No, not the 5th “Indiana Jones” film- although yes, that *is* on the way. Also no, not “Yellowstone” prequel series “1923” which he co-stars with Helen Mirren (which is on Paramount+ now). We’re talking about his unlikely addition to Marvel Studios’ upcoming film slate.
“Harrison Ford, we couldn’t be more excited,” “Captain America 4” producer Nate Moore teased of Ford’s involvement. “Obviously, when you have Han Solo or Indiana Jones involved in your movie, it just raises the game. So, we’re excited to see [Anthony] Mackie and Harrison Ford in scenes together. I think it’s going to be fantastic.”
Ford is replacing the late William Hurt as General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross. The character pops into the MCU every so often, and is an integral part of the upcoming film, “Thunderbolts.” We know Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Harbour Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, and Olga Kurylenko will also star.
But…Ford…in a superhero movie? There has to be a reason he said yes to this particular project, right?
“Hey, look, I’ve done a lot of things. I now want to do some of the things I haven’t done,” Ford said. Yeah. That tracks. We can absolutely hear him saying this when faced with questions about Red Hulk.
“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” hits theaters June 30th, 2023. “1923” is currently streaming on Paramount+. We’ll let you know what we hear about “Thunderbolts” and other MCU news.
