Earlier today, we were treated to a surprise trailer drop from Marvel Studios, for a new project destined to be an instant holiday classic. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” are getting their own special presentation Christmas thing, exclusively for Disney+.

As the first look reveals, members of the Guardians go on a mission to retrieve the ultimate Christmas present for Peter Quill aka Star Lord (Chris Pratt), who’s been pretty down since the death of his girlfriend, Gamora (Zoe Saldana). One character teased turning the trailer is Cosmo the Spacedog, telepathic Soviet space dog.

Traditionally, Cosmo is the security chief of the space station Knowhere, and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s previously appeared in the MCU, but it sure looks like’s getting a little more love. And, he’ll actually…have lines?

Turns out, Oscar-nominated actress Maria Bakalova will be voicing Cosmo in the holiday special! Bakalova was first introduced to audiences in “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” where she played Tutar Sagdiyev, daughter of Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen). She confirmed the role in a recent interview.

“Having the chance to join the family of Marvel and especially the Guardians of the Galaxy, which was my first love in the MCU, was a dream come true,” Bakalova told Discussing Film. “I love seeing all the people excited for Vol. 3, the fans have been so welcoming and warm. It’s truly precious and reminds you why you’re actually doing this kind of work, to make people feel something. I think that’s the biggest gift.”

“Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” hits Disney+ November 25th, 2022.
