Fans have often dreamed of seeing Christian Bale somewhere in the “Star Wars” universe. He’s got sword skills, gravitas, and even the playfulness that are at the heart of many beloved characters. After his recent appearance as Gorr the God-Butcher in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” he’s got even more fans than ever vying for him to be in more nerdy media (including us).
He’s opened up about the one role that would actually tempt him to join the franchise. Remember in “Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope” when that stormtrooper on the Death Star bonks his head on the door frame?
Yeah, that’s the one. “All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through,” Bale told The Hollywood Reporter. “The real nerds who watched ‘Star Wars’ way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be THAT guy. That was it.”
As much as we would love the slapstick misadventures of Slightly-Too-Tall-Stormtrooper, Bale also elaborated he would be happy to be included in any role in the series. “Look, if I’m fortunate enough to be more than that, oh man, yeah. What a delight that would be. I’ve still got the figures from when I was little. I also know Kathy Kennedy very well because she was working with [Steven] Spielberg when I did ‘Empire of the Sun,’ and now, she runs the ‘Star Wars‘ universe.”
We’re sure Bale would be great in any role in the galaxy far, far away. Of course now we really want to see him bumbling across the background of some slightly too small planet. Smacking into Ewok huts or catching a crossbeam of a low hut on Tatooine between the eyes. Classic.
