It is common for errors in mass production when Six Sigma is not used in manufacturing. And the best way to learn six sigma is to get a six sigma certification. Getting six sigma training can change the way your business operates production. Six sigma can help you improve product quality and reduce the number of errors in the manufacturing process.

Before we get into how six sigma improves the production process and quality, let’s learn all six sigma basics. There is so much to learn about six sigma. First, one must not confuse six sigma with sigma six, which is an entirely unrelated topic. And then, there is also the topic of lean six sigma that one needs to familiarize themselves with.

As we said, the best way to get familiar with six sigma is to get a six sigma certification. Joining a six sigma training course will prepare you in the best way possible. It will cover all topics such as six sigma, lean six sigma, Minitab, and much more.

    What is Six Sigma?

Six Sigma is a data-driven methodology used to identify and eliminate defects in the production process. The fault could be identified and resolved at any step of the process, from the designing stage to the services stage.

The name six sigma comes from sigma, meaning standard deviation. The idea concretes itself with a product managing process staying within those six standard deviations of the upper and lower limits of the mean.

What are the Six Sigma principles?

The six sigma methodology has its main goal set in identifying and eliminating defects in the production process. But to do that, there have to be certain principles that this methodology follows.

These are the 5 six sigma principles you are taught during the six sigma certification:

    • Customer Focused Approach

Customers are at the base of any business. So the first principle you have to keep in mind is that your customers should be your focus for every innovative step you take in your business. Your product or service should primarily benefit the customer. When customers like your product or services, sales will automatically increase.

When you focus on the customer, you can create products that your customers demand. This will keep your customers happy and your brand relevant in the market.

    • Find the main problem

A problem can occur at any stage of the manufacturing process. In a six sigma certification, you are taught to evaluate every step in the process and gather the correct data. Collecting data should also be done with a goal-defined approach. You should know what the insights would look like after you have the data. Being well aware will help you find the problem in the data and the process quicker.

Having all the data and then understanding and evaluating it will help you find the central problem while it’s manageable. This way, you can find the problem and solve it from its root cause.

    • Eliminate issues

Eliminating issues becomes extremely easy once you have identified the problem. This principle not only calls for eliminating issues that the customers might face but also unnecessary steps the customers might have to take before making the final purchase. So eliminating these unnecessary steps also becomes essential.

    • Communicate with and train members

The six sigma process demands every team member be well aware of the production process. So when the time comes, they need to be able to communicate with anyone regarding the problems and solutions they think could work. In addition, they are required to communicate with the management team and the stakeholders, so their communication skills should be exceptional.

Not only that, but they might also need to train team members in the six sigma methodology and its workings. So being good at communication can go a long way.

    • Create a flexible system

When a system is flexible enough, change can be adopted efficiently. Therefore, it is crucial to create a system that is flexible enough that when a problem is found and the production process goes through change, the system can handle and adapt perfectly.

How to use the Six Sigma methodology to improve production quality?

The principal six sigma methodology is a five-phase data-driven approach better known as DMAIC. You are taught 5 phases when you do the lean six sigma certification course. Let’s see what the 5 phases in the six sigma methodology are:

    • Define

The first thing you learn in a six sigma lean course is to define your customers’ needs and problems. Next, you understand their demands and start working on how your product can solve these problems.

    • Measure

Next, you measure all the variables that have the most significant impact on the outcome. You could do this by creating a plan for systematically gathering data and collecting relevant data.

    • Analyze

Start analyzing all the collected data and figure out the variable causing you the most trouble. Use statistical tools in the analyzing process to ensure the best results.

    • Improve

Map out the best plan to improve the situation. Improving the case could mean eliminating a whole part of the process to finding the best way to turn the situation around.

    • Control

Maintaining control of the situation after the solution is found is an integral part of the process of finding the solution. So make sure to implement the solution and document its success.

    What is Six Sigma Certification?

GE and Motorola were the first businesses to develop six sigma certification courses and training programs. The six sigma certification consists of training sessions that teach you about companies’ tools and techniques to improve their production process and remove defects.

You can do a lean six sigma certification from many different online platforms. Getting the six sigma training online can save a lot of time, and you can do it while prioritizing your work.

Adopting the six sigma methodology can easily avoid manufacturing and production errors. To effectively learn the six sigma process, you must join a six sigma lean course. A certification course like this will train you in all aspects of six sigma, and you can effectively use it in your business to avoid defects in the production process.

Apply for a six sigma certification today and improve your business by focusing on improving your business’s quality.
