Writing your resume is undoubtedly one of the most important things to consider when applying for a job. That document is the foundation, the most basic requirement for job applications. They also serve the first impression you leave. It may be directly or face to face, but that paper represents you. Even the way it is written reflects you as a person and employee. It is no doubt that creating a well-written resume is very important. But seeing how competitive the industry is now these days, an easy-to-read resume that shows your work history is not enough. You have to stand out and show the hiring managers that you have what it takes for the position you are applying for. That you are the best among all the candidates is the challenging part, so here are some of the qualities that make a resume stand out.

    Strategically organized

Writing a resume isn’t just about listing your achievements but about showing your work experience. There are also formats and templates that you can use, but even with that, you cannot just use them randomly. You must use a template that fits your situation. If you are writing your resume manually, you can do the following.

    1. Recheck the job description and use the keywords there in your resume. Make sure that the ones you’ve included are relevant,
    2. Once you’ve identified the important information, list your work history with them.
    3. The next step is to assess them. Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Check if there are any employment or work gaps.
    4. After identifying and sorting all of the pieces of information, you are going to pick the way you are to present them. Research what format is the most effective for you or a way of representing that will highlight your strengths and put your weaknesses in the shadow.
    5. Once you’ve done all that, proofread. Reread the resume you just wrote at least two times. Make sure that there are no errors.

    Strong start and end

If you want to stand out, you must make a good impression. Ensure that the first thing the reader sees in your resume will catch their attention. Make it interesting, put something that will tingle their curiosity. Since you’ve started with an impact, you should also end with a boom. Ensure that the way you end your resume keeps you in their mind. Put something that will keep them thinking about you. You can say something related to how you started to help spike up their curiosity. Showing consistency with the right information will make them more curious about you.

    Highlight your growth

The hiring managers will always see the applicants’ work experience and educational background. They will see where they went previously, their position, and things like that. But a unique resume will highlight your progress. Showing your growth is a big bonus point. You do not have to say it directly. Ensure that the pieces of information you’ve input have a link that will show your growth.

    Unique

You must make a creative resume to help you stand out and be unique. Think outside the box and be creative in writing your resume. You can use templates and formats but do not forget to add some spice. Do not underestimate the power of color. Though a resume should not look like a kid’s coloring book, you can always add a few colors. Just make sure that the colors you are going to use are appropriate and it is not distracting. Do not use too many colors, especially if they are bright ones. You can also use different fonts but in regulation. Three different kinds of fonts should be the maximum and used accordingly. Do not just use different fonts randomly; make sure it matches.

The writing part shows your personality. The employers will see if you’re competent enough to create a good quality resume. They will know you’re settling for less or going the extra mile. So impress them by going beyond their expectations!
