Christina Ricci will voice Harley Quinn in an upcoming radio drama podcast from Spotify and Warner Bros. Pictures. As part of a multiyear licensing deal with Spotify, WB will be co-creating some very cool DC Comics projects. The first, “Batman Unburied,” did so well that it reached the number one spot on Spotify’s charts in 17 different markets.
Christina Ricci will be joined by Billy Magnussen as Joker and Justin Hartley as Batman. “Harley Quinn & The Joker: Sound Mind” will feature a story about Joker from the perspective of Harley Quinn. The series is being developed and produced by Eli Horowitz (“Homecoming”).
A logline for the audio drama reads:
“Her dad is sick, and in need of an expensive, life-saving operation Harleen can’t afford. So when she meets ‘Patient J,’ a unique criminal who seems to have a strange power over everyone but her, Harleen makes a fateful decision: to use her relationship with J to get what she needs, leading both of them down a dangerous path that will change their lives forever.”
It’s exciting to think of Christina Ricci in this role for a couple of reasons. First, we just saw her play a character on “Yellowjackets” with questionable morals. Second, she’s one of the top spooky girls who has the voice to carry both sweet and psychotic nuances.
So far no release date has been set, but we’ll keep you updated.
