“The Boys” Back with a Vengeance in Season 3 [Interview]

“The Boys” has returned for season 3, and they are back with a vengeance. We don’t envy the show’s task; it’s tough to top the absurdity of the real world we live in. So instead, the Prime Video series continues to reflect it back at us with a merciless accuracy.

We had the chance to chat with head writer Eric Kripke, as well as show stars Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Chase Crawford, and Claudia Doumit. Season 3 explores the ever growing fracture between the extremist supporters of Homelander (and Stormfront) and well… the rest of the sane world. Sound familiar? Sure is!

    “The Boys” Are Back

Our biggest challenge with “The Boys” season 3 is that it perhaps hits TOO close to home. We don’t live in a world distanced enough from some of the events being paralleled. They are done with perhaps too much accuracy for some of our still open wounds. Accuracy is certainly the name of the game as the series turns its eye to some shockingly fresh inspiration. We commend the speed with which they were able to include some references.

The new season continues to escalate on pretty much all fronts. From the action, gore, and sex, it’s all feeling more extreme this time around. We quite frankly don’t know where we can go for season 4 but we will be there for the ride.

About Season 3: “It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.”

The first three episodes of “The Boys” are available now on Prime Video. The rest of the 8 episode season will be releasing weekly (with the finale dropping on July 8th, 2022).
