Animation (and Guillermo del Toro) fans might want to get themselves to France if they want to see the first footage of the auteur’s long awaited stop-motion “Pinocchio” adaptation. The Annecy Festival has long been the showcase du jour for animated projects. Netflix is bringing their A game to it this year with del Toro’s film, and a bevy of other projects.

His film was announced in 2008, and you can read about some of the storied history here. The rest of the cast is rounded out by a cavalcade of del Toro regulars (and a few newcomers) including: Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Burn Gorman.

Not content with one major name’s project debuting, Netflix will also be showing off a first look of Kid Cudi’s “Entergalactic.” It’s an animated series based on Kid Cudi’s album of the same name. Kenya Barris (“Black-Iish”, “Mixed-ish”, and “Grown-ish”) serves as writer, director, and producer.

Other projects will include the world premiere of Chris Williams’ “The Sea Beast” starring the  voice talents of Karl Urban, Dan Stevens, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, and Kathy Burke. It’s an action adventure film taking place “In an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes – and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland.”

On the series side “My Dad the Bounty Hunter” from Everett Downing Jr. and Patrick Harper will make itself known. “The action-comedy series follows the toughest bounty hunter in all the galaxy, a man with razor sharp skills but also a secret – his family on Earth has no idea what he does for a living. So when his two kids accidentally hitch a ride into outer space and crash his latest mission, they discover that their average Dad’s job is anything but boring”

Annecy will be jam packed with other animated projects in addition to del Toro’s “Pinocchio” and we can’t wait to see them all!
