Scrabble is a word-based fun learning game, a maximum of four can play this board game. The game is to spell words and gain points and in the end, the person having the highest points wins the game. The scrabble box contains a scrabble board with letter tiles and 4 racks. The game starts with each player having a letter and the one who has a letter nearest to A gets to start the game. And then the players are given 7 letters each, on your turn you must place the letters on the board such that it forms a complete word either horizontally or vertically. Each letter has a point on it and the board also has blocks that can multiply the scores of a word and scores of a letter. The game ends when all the letters are on board and used. This game is not only fun but also helps one to improve vocabulary. Let us see the tips for gaining more scores in the Scrabble game.

Though this game sounds easy, it requires a lot of planning to score more, and also knowledge of words is important, hence practice with some tips and strategies will help.

Step 1: In each of your turns you must have 7 letters with you. So use more letters to form a word at the beginning so that you can make use of more letters in the whole game and your opponents get less chance of it.

Step 2: Though a big word can get you more letter tiles, do not forget about two or three-letter words. These words sometimes get you more points if used wisely. The two or three-letter words often gain scores both horizontally and vertically.

Step 3: Plan for a word such that it covers the booster scores from the board. Booster scores are the space having double letter score, double word score, triple letter score, and triple word score. Try to make use of this space effectively like placing the letter which has the highest points so that your score gets multiplied.

Step 4: Use the booster scores from the board at the earliest. Right from the start of the game try to cover the spaces which multiply your score.

Step 5: Use prefixes like CO, DE, IN, NON, MIS, etc, and use suffixes like MENT, ING, ITY, ED, ER, etc. These letters, when added as prefixes or suffixes to an existing word, give a new word and get your score high.

Step 6: Make use of blank tile when needed. Though the tile does not have any points on it, it can be used to form a word since you can assume it to be any letter of your choice. Use this blank tile to form a big word with more letters in it. Blank tile looks like below.

Step 7: A single letter can grab you more points. Search for a word on the board such that you can add a single letter and gain points out of it. Ex: By adding E to OR it can become a new word ORE. By adding A to SIDE it can become ASIDE.

Step 8: Take the maximum out of the letter S. Most of the plural words ends with S so plan for it wisely and go for a big one like WORKSHEET can become WORKSHEETS by adding S.

Step 9: Try to memorize or know the words starting with Q and don’t include the letter U in it. U can be used in other words effectively.

Step 10: Make effective use of other languages if you know them. Few foreign language words are also allowed like MOI. It is a French word that means me.

Step 11: Remember, sounds like HMM, MM, UH, etc also count as a word in Scrabble.

Step 12: Use the high valued letter as soon as possible. And try to have combinations of letters in your rack so that it is helpful at the end.

Step 13: The last tip and also an important one, playing with a proper plan is anyhow needed but having a good knowledge of words is equally important. You will gain this only when you practice. So practice well, have fun and use these tricks to try to win your Scrabble game.

That’s it ! Hope this article is useful to you, give it a try and I’m sure you will have fun learning. Thank you !!
