This is one of the projects we’ve been most looking forward to for awhile. Not only is it a new thing from Danny Boyle (we still weep for the Bond film that could have been), but it’s a biopic of legendary UK punk band Sex Pistols.

Toby Wallace (“Babyteeth“) stars as guitarist Steve Jones, who’s 2017 memoir “Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol” serves as the series’ inspiration. Anson Boon (“1917“) plays John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon, who has been vocal about not approving this project. He event went so far was to attempt to prevent it from happening. Louis Partridge (“Enola Holmes“) plays as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater plays drummer Paul Cook, and Christian Lees plays original bassist Glen Matlock.
The real excitement, at least for me, comes in the supporting cast. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (“The Queen’s Gambit“) will star as Malcolm McLaren, Talulah Riley (“Westworld“) as Vivienne Westwood, Dylan Llewellyn (“Derry Girls“) as Jones’ early bandmate Wally Nightingale, Sydney Chandler (“Don’t Worry Darling“) as a pre-Pretenders Chrissie Hynde, Emma Appleton (“The Witcher“) as Vicious’ girlfriend Nancy Spungeng, and Maisie Williams as Pamela Rooke, aka Jordan.
“Pistol” will premiere on Hulu on May 31st, 2022. Here’s hoping we’ll get a trailer soon.
