This is one of those stories that’s persisted for some time. Back in 2020, there was chatter that STARZ was actively developing multiple spinoffs of their hit series “Outlander.” Things kind of got quiet after that, what with a still-ongoing worldwide pandemic and all.
But this morning, according to a report, an “Outlander” prequel series is apparently in the works.
Variety cites ‘sources’ who indicate Matthew B. Roberts, current “Outlander” showrunner, will write and executive produce the project. The outlet goes on to say that Ronald D. Moore (series creator) and Maril Davis (executive producer) will also be involved via Tall Ship Productions.
What could an “Outlander” prequel be about? Well, author Diana Gabaldon has no shortage of stories inside the universe she created. Things like the young Lord John Grey series, “Virgins” which details young Ian Murray and Jamie Fraser’s time in France, possible stories about Claire as a young woman with her Uncle Lamb, and Roger’s soldier father.
We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. “Outlander” season 6 will premiere on March 6th on STARZ.
