Imagine if you will, someone who really loves “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” Like, loves it so much, that he annually recreates Clark Griswold’s iconic light display. Jeff Norton of La Mirada, California is just such a man.
This is the fourth year Norton has decorated, and the display is apparently causing problems. Specifically, a new addition in the guise of a fake second-story added to his house. According to the local ABC affiliate, the City wants that part removed. If Norton doesn’t comply, he faces weekly fines.
“I will more than happily pay that fine. I’m not necessarily happy, but I’ll do that to keep this up for the whole entire community. I’m not gonna take this down – no ifs, ands or buts,” Norton said. “I said there’s no way in this world I would remove that until January 1st. It is a makeshift, fake facade that I put up on my roof.”
Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief.
Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence.
Though she be but little, she is fierce.
