Because this Chris Columbus, John Hughes holiday classic apparently needed a reboot, Disney+ has released the first trailer for “Home Sweet Home Alone.” We’re…really not sure how we feel about it, especially after seeing this video.

The official synopsis from Disney+ for the film reads:

“Max Mercer is a mischievous and resourceful young boy who has been left behind while his family is in Japan for the holidays. So when a married couple attempting to retrieve a priceless heirloom set their sights on the Mercer family’s home, it is up to Max to protect it from the trespassers…and he will do whatever it takes to keep them out. Hilarious hijinks of epic proportions ensue, but despite the absolute chaos, Max comes to realize that there really is no place like home sweet home.”

Lookit Biff McCallister! He’s all grown up and a police officer now!

“Home Sweet Home Alone” stars Ellie Kemper (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt“), Rob Delaney (“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw“), Archie Yates (“Jojo Rabbit“), Aisling Bea (“This Way Up“), Kenan Thompson (“Saturday Night Live“), Tim Simons (“Veep“), Pete Holmes (“Crashing“), Devin Ratray (the original Buzz from “Home Alone“), Ally Maki (“Toy Story 4“), and Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live).

Dan Mazer directs from a screenplay by Mikey Day & Streeter Seidell. It’s set to hit the House of Mouse streaming service November 12th, 2021.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
