Krysten Ritter, who we all love from her portrayal of “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” is back for another round with Netflix. This time the star will be portraying a witch that keeps children hostage for her entertainment. You can tell that Ritter is having a ton of fun in this role, and she looks amazing all done up in a witchy fashion. The movie is based off of horror-fantasy children’s book “Nightbooks” by J.A. White.
In this first look at “Nightbooks,” you can see that they’ve created a fun and scary film that should be enjoyable for all ages. While there is some scarier imagery (i.e. the spider monstrosity that hatches in one scene), a simple explanation to a younger kid could suffice. Well, I suppose it all depends on the kid. But I’ll certainly be watching with my seven year old if it makes you feel any better.
The film is written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis (“Five Feet Apart,” “The Curse of La Llorona“). It is directed by David Yarovesky.
In it, scary story fan Alex (Winslow Fegley) must tell a spine-tingling tale every night — or stay trapped with his new friend Yasmin (Lidya Jewett) in a wicked witch’s magical apartment forever.
“Nightbooks” will be available to watch September 15th exclusively on Netflix.
