We’re not proud of admitting we kinda forgot a new live-action “G.I. Joe” film was on the horizon. This is not the fault of the studio or anything. It’s more….we’ve forgotten about almost all planned theatrical releases. Except for “Dune.” Because….Shai Hulud. ANYHOW, just this morning, Paramount Pictures reshuffled almost all of their planned releases for the next two years (again), including a new date for “G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes.”
Oddly enough, the push makes sense?
Robert Schwentke (“Divergent“) is directing.
Henry Golding (“Crazy Rich Asians“) stars as Snake Eyes, Andrew Koji (Cinemax’s “Warrior“) will play Snake Eyes’ rival Storm Shadow, Úrsula Corberó (“Money Heist“) will play The Baroness, Samara Weaving (“Bill & Ted Face The Music“) will be playing Scarlett, and Haruka Abe (“Avenue 5“) will play Akiko.
“I think the heart of the story really is who Snake is and his journey as a person, really. Understanding his motivations,” Golding said to Entertainment Weekly. “I can’t give away too much, but it really focuses on the one person instead of having 20 people on screen and understanding background. We start from the beginning. And, hopefully, this launches an amazing franchise.”

“G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes” will hit theaters on July 23rd, 2021.
