Which Classic Fantasy Film or TV Show Has the Best Fictional Place?

One of the best things about watching a movie or TV is that it can transport us anywhere. Fantasy directors can create new worlds no one ever thought possible. Who can forget the way Blade Runner changed LA into a cyberpunk paradise? Or how The Beatles showed the inside of their minds through the psychedelic landscape of Pepperland?

There are so many examples out there, but for now, here are three that stand out.

    Canto Bight

Star Wars has got to be at the top of the list when it comes to fantasy lands. But there’s one place that was specifically designed to stand out from the rest and that’s Canto Bight. The Last Jedi’s director, Rian Johnson, said that he wanted to create Canto Bight as a casino city based on Monte Carlo, making it the best clubhouse location in space

Although said casino scene wasn’t best favored by many Star Wars fans, it’s undeniable that the set design and atmosphere of the gambling planet is one we’d all love to experience. However amazing it would be to visit Canto Bight in real life and experience the casinos there, sadly we can’t – obviously. Yet, we can watch The Last Jedi to our heart’s content, and, thanks to the evolution of the gambling industry itself, even visit an online casino on our phones, many of which offer bonuses and sportsbooks as this full article here shows. So, it doesn’t matter where you are in the galaxy, you can still get that Canto Bight feeling.

    Old Town

How could Game of Thrones not be on this list? Depicted as one of the best-televised fantasies of all time, GoT is based in Westeros, a land made up of five cities. However, the best city there has got to be Old Town, one of the largest in the Kingdom.

Old Town is possibly the best mix of medieval meets modern there has ever been on TV. From visiting the Starry Sept to gazing on the high tower, there is so much to do in this great city. However, if you want to visit the whole continent, this comprehensive list here can show you the best places to go.

    HBO

    Hobbiton

This charming home for Hobbits is a village we all want to go to. We all remember the evening dancing, fireworks, and merriment happening in Hobbiton from the first few scenes in The Fellowship of the Ring. In the daytime, however, it’s serene and green, making it a blissful viewing experience. It’s clear to see from the village how the Hobbits live and how far away it is from the hustle and bustle of modern human life.

It’s no secret that Hobbiton is can actually be visited in New Zealand, as shown in this detailed website here. When exploring Hobbiton, you can enjoy the Shire by wolfing down a banquet and squeezing yourself through the many tiny round doors. Until then, we have 11.2 hours of the Shire to enjoy through the movies at home.

Whether it’s the excitement of the casino at Canto Bight, the medieval feel of Old Town, or the peacefulness of Hobbiton, these are three fantasy places that stand out. Each has its own charm and whilst we may not be able to visit them all in person, luckily, there are plenty of alternatives.
