Though theme parks in California are planning on reopening soon some of the perks once promised will not be available. Marvel’s Avengers Campus, which was supposed to open in July of 2020, will not be available upon the reopening of California Adventure. This of course is due to coronavirus putting a wrench in the gears.
During an investors meeting, Disney CEO Bob Chapek stated that Avengers Campus would debut later in 2021. This would occur after the projected reopening of the park, which will now be April 30th.

Why?
To be honest, we don’t know exactly. The Marvel Studios expansion to California Adventure has been reportedly completed for at least a month. It could be due to cast members not being trained in the specifics of the new attractions and offerings.
When Disneyland first talked about this new park area, they said that it would be like “walking into a world full of super heroes.” The language of the park would change much like it did for Galaxy’s Edge, the “Star Wars” themed area. So not having the ability to train people on it could have a lot to do with it.
Plus, there are the actors that play the roles of the heroes themselves. Some may return to their roles, but they’ll also need to hire more. The hero interactions are supposed to be a major part of the experience.

We’ll keep an ear to the ground and keep you updated. We want this to open just as much as you do!
