Winter is on its way and with it another year of The Game Awards! That means now is the time to head over to the site and vote for your favorite picks in a multitude of categories. Of course, the most prestigious of these catgeories is the Game of the Year award. However, there are some other excellent categories to consider. Best narrative and best score and music are definitely two categories that consistently have strong contenders.

This year’s game awards certainly has an interesting mash-up of titles. None of 2020’s Game of the Year contenders come as much of a surprise. You can vote for “The Last of Us Part 2,” “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” “Ghost of Tsushima,” “Hades,” “Final Fantasy VII Remake” or “Doom Eternal.” There’s definitely something to be said for light-hearted Animal Crossing competing right next to the dark tale of The Last of Us. If it’s not a perfect metaphor for this disaster of a year, then nothing can be.

In the best narrative category, you can vote for “Final Fantasy VII Remake,” “Ghost of Tsushima,” “13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim,” “Hades” or “The Last of Us Part 2.” It’s almost like having a good narrative makes you a Game of the year contender. In fact, almost all of these titles are also up for best score and music. If you’re looking to show some love to some less mainstream titles, check out the Games for Impact category. This year’s nominees are “If Found…,” “Spiritfarer,” “Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition,” “Tell Me Why” and “Through the Darkest of Times.” That last one’s title certainly hits this year’s tone on the head.

You can check out all of the categories and cast your votes here. May the best games win! The Game Awards will be live from 7-11pm EST on December 10.
