Merriam-Webster has added a highly controversial word to the dictionary. That word? Irregardless. Many have been put off by the use of this word as it is NOT ACTUALLY A WORD. But now those who chose to use it can do a little happy dance in celebration.
They’ve added the new listing which will appear like this in new editions of the book.

irregardless (adverb); definition of irregardless: REGARDLESS; nonstandard
So it means what most thought it did to begin with. Now it’s accepted because we’ve been using it so long so it turns out with a bit of stubbornness we can get anything into the dictionary. Or at least Merriam-Webster.
