October is almost here and with it some new free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. This is the second to last month of free PlayStation Plus games before the PS5 launches, so you’ll want to make sure and grab them. It’s unclear how the service will change once the new console launches but it’s safe to assume it will. This month, you can grab “Need for Speed: Payback” and “Vampyr” for free.

“Need for Speed: Payback” is a racing game developed by Ghost games and published by Electronic Arts. Players utilize three different characters to race across the terrain of Fortune Valley, a fictional version of Las Vegas. After being given a job to steal a car by Tyler’s childhood acquintance Lina, the crew finds themselves betrayed by her as she sets them up with the theft and drives away. Soon enough, the crew find themselves going head-to-head with Fortune Valley’s cartel known as The House. They’ll need to pull out all the stops to outrace these intimidating enemies and deliver some payback.

The second free title, “Vampyr,” is a far different gaming experience. This action role-playing game is developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Focus Home Interactive. In this dark title, you play as doctor Jonathan Reid. It’s the World War I era and a deadly outbreak of the flu is ravaging the citizens of London. Jonathan soon finds himself turned into a vampire. He struggles with his new bloodthirsty nature and his Hippocratic Oath to do no harm. Your choices determine the outcome of the game as you choose who to spare and who to devour to obtain new abilities. Will you find a cure for London’s citizens or kill them yourself?

Both titles will be available for free download starting October 6. You can pick them up at any point until November 2. So get out there and grab these freebies before they disappear!
